Product Update: New Interface with CANbus (SAE J1939 or CANopen)

The Cylindrical Reader M30 UHF is a read and write device from the iDTRONIC BLUEBOX line.

The reader now utilizes CANbus connection (SAE J1939 or CANopen) to enhance the existing RS-232 and RS-485 interfaces.

INTERFACE OPTIONS FOR VARIOUS CONNECTIONS

The reader has a variety of interface solutions for easy integration into existing systems. The RS-232 COM interface is a serial port ideally suited for connection to monitors, POS terminals, measuring instruments, or printers. The RS-485 interface is an asynchronous serial connection for data communication over long distances. It is a bidirectional bus system that may be operated with up to 128 devices on one bus.

The Cylindrical Reader M30 UHF is now available with the additional CANbus (SAE J1939 or CANopen) interface option. The serial CANbus system enables data exchange between several control units. This has applications in motor vehicles, shipping, or air freight. This interface eliminates the need for long cables. The SAE J1939 network protocol is used for the transmission of diagnostic data and control information. The CANopen connection is a communication protocol which is mainly used in automation processes. Complex devices may be networked with it.

EXCELLENT TECHNICAL PREREQUISITES FOR YOUR APPLICATION

The reader has a 10 – 36 volt power supply. The output line supports up to 27 dBm / 500 mW. The power can be regulated from 10 dBm in 1 dBm steps. The reader is, therefore, ideally suited for high-performance devices within various applications.

HIGH READING RANGES DUE TO INTEGRATED CIRCULAR ANTENNA

The Cylindrical Reader M30 UHF is equipped with an internal, circular antenna. The antenna has a strength of -8 dBi, achieving a high reading range of up to 50 centimetres.

ULTRA-HIGH FREQUENCY WITH A VARIETY OF SUPPORTED TAGS

The reader is standard equipped with the UHF frequency 865 – 868 MHz (ETSI).
Optionally, the reader may also be operated with an FCC frequency of 902 – 928 MHz. Both frequencies support the ISO 18000-6C standard (EPC Class 1 Generation 2) with Alien Higgs 2/3/4, Impinj Monza, NXP UCODE tags, as well as many more.

A user-friendly software development kit (SDK) and configuration tool, for Windows operating systems, are provided as well as an operating system-independent command protocol.
Further adjustments to the firmware and hardware are possible on request and project basis.

APPLICATION EXAMPLE: IDENTIFICATION OF ATTACHMENTS

The BLUEBOX Cylindrical Reader M30 UHF is ideally suited for the identification and automatic configuration of attachments in agricultural machinery, construction machinery, or municipal multifunction vehicles. The RFID reader is mounted close to the holding points of the vehicle’s attachments and identifies various external attachments. These may include excavator shovels, sweepers, ice sliders or drills, which are all equipped with an RFID transponder. The attached transponders contain all necessary configuration data about the attachment part. After the readout process, the corresponding data is forwarded to the central control system via the CANbus interface.

Example 1:
Construction site vehicles require a variety of additional equipment to meet the requirements of the modern construction industry. Thanks to the cylindrical design of the reader and the IP67 protection class, the reader is ideally suited for the requirements of such harsh environments. In addition to its resistance to environmental influences, the simple integration of the existing CANbus interface was also considered during development. Thanks to the standardized interface and UHF technology, the attachments may be identified and adjusted immediately.

Example 2:
The demands of a fast harvest with high yields increase from year to year in the agricultural industry. Thanks to modern technology, today’s agricultural vehicles can take on a variety of tasks and thus meet these ever-demanding requirements. However, due to the multitude of possibilities, the systems are also becoming more and more complex. Automated identification systems should take over the configuration of the various attachments so that users do not require extensive training to operate the vehicles. An important component for this is iDTRONIC’s BLUEBOX Cylindrical Reader M30 UHF. Thanks to the standardized UHF RFID (ISO18000-6C / EPC Class 1 Generation 2) transmission standard and a reading range of up to 50cm, the various tools can be identified easily.

Thanks to its IP68 protection class, it is perfectly suited for use on fields or construction sites. It withstands temperatures from -35 °C to +85 °C without any problems. The tag can be used on all materials and is also especially suitable for installation on metallic substrates.

On Metal Tag: Xerafy MicroX II
This tag is durable and suitable for demanding applications, such as those found on construction sites. It has been specially developed for use on metallic surfaces. The material has a long service life and can withstand temperature fluctuations without any issues.

The new C4 Tablet L from iDTRONIC is the successor to our C4 Tablet. The new tablet is a mobile data collection device for various applications within the building site management, the aviation management and the industry.

This new top model is provided with the latest Android 7.0 Version and has a large 8″ Touch Screen. Therefore, the C4 Tablet L works with the latest mobile standard with 4G LTE and WiFi Networking. This version is a true lightweight – with just 600 grams.

RUGGED HOUSING WITH PROTECTION CLASS MEETS MODERN DESIGN

The anthracite housing of the C4 Tablet L consists of robust TPU/CP plastics and is rubberized. Thanks to the IP67 Protection Class, the reader provides a reliable and full protection against contact, e.g. ingress of dust and humidity. The ergonomic housing with the dimensions 23 14.2 1.8 cm is slip-resistant and has reinforced edges. The large 8″ display consist of resistant Gorilla Glass and is well suited for harsh environments. The blue border around the display presents the device in classically and timelessly way.

OPTIONAL BARCODE READER FOR FAST & EFFICIENT PROCESSING

The tablet can be upgraded with a 1D (Barcode) or 2D (QR Code) Barcode Reader. This enables efficient and fast control of mobile data collection within operational applications.

VARIOUS RFID OPTIONS CUSTOMIZED TO OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

The C4 Tablet L offers the RFID frequencies UHF (865 – 868 MHz or 920 – 925 MHz), HF/NFC (13.56 kHz) and LF (125 kHz or 134.2 kHz). The LF Version supports transponder and tags of ISO 11784 & 11785, the HF/NFC Version ISO 14443A & 15693 and the UHF Version EPC C1 GEN2 und ISO 18000-6C.

PERFORMANCE COMBINES LATEST TECHNOLOGY

The tablet runs with the latest OS Android 7.0 „Nougat“ and is equipped with a A53 1.5 GHz Octa-Core Processor. This makes it ideal for all system requirements. The new mobile standard 4G LTE supports a download speed of up to 500 Mbit/s. The rechargeable battery of the tablet has a high-performance with 8.000 mAh and can easily withstand a whole working day.

Thanks to the 3.8 Volt power supply, the tablet is equipped with a quick charge function. The internal memory can be provided with 2 GB RAM / 16 GB ROM or 3 GB RAM / 32 GB ROM. Therefore, the micro SD is expandable up to a maximum of 128 GB.

High demands are made on sensors, particularly in the area of mobile hydraulic applications. There is a growing demand for precise measuring processes in the area of mobile hydraulics, given that a reliable and safe positioning of vehicle support legs is essential for the safety of the persons and equipment involved. The MH60 was developed, to ensure a reliable measuring process in precisely such harsh environments. The IP69K rating allows for a maximum protection of the electronic components against water and contamination. The sensor can be easily cleaned using a high-pressure jet without suffering any damage. To achieve maximum performance, the customer can choose the ideal type of housing for the sensor depending on the environmental conditions. Because of this, WayCon offers a cost-effective, robust and compact solution for an effective application at the end customers“.

In addition to the standard industry output signals (0…10 V, 4…20 mA, potentiometer), a low cost CANopen interface according to CiA 406 is also available. A series of options allows for a wide variety of variations: An offline setting of the most important parameters is possible with the help of our squeezer as well as the programming of the analogue measuring range. Furthermore, a complete signal failure is counteracted by a redundant output signal. The customer has the option of perfectly adapting the sensor to his or her application using different rope fixations and rope diameters. „Dynamic Material Handling“ – dynamisches Kommissionieren mit System
Erstmals bieten die Logistikexperten von Wanzl ein komplexes Kommissioniersystem nach dem Ware-zur-Person-Prinzip. „Dynamic Material Handling“ ist dynamisch, teilautomatisiert, adaptiv. Das Konzept optimiert essentielle Prozesse wie die Lagerung und Bereitstellung der Artikel oder die Navigation der Kommissionierwagen. Das Herzstück sind automatische Kommissionierlager. Im Vergleich zu konventionellen, statischen Lagerlösungen wie Fachboden- oder Schubladenregale optimiert der Einsatz moderner Karusselllager die Ausnutzung von Lagervolumina um bis zu 80 Prozent. Automatische Kommissionierlager haben eine feste Leistungsgrenze und werden entsprechend der Leistungsanforderungen des Kunden individuell konfiguriert. In ihnen stehen gesamte Lagereinheiten verschiedener Artikel auf Abruf bereit. Bei Bedarf werden die entsprechenden Einheiten automatisch an der ergonomischen Bedienöffnung bereitgestellt, wo der Kommissionierer die gewünschte Menge entnimmt, bevor er den nächsten Artikel anfordert. Dabei stehen Kunden zwei Basissysteme für die Datenverwaltung zur Verfügung. Einerseits kann das Lager über eine Java-basierte Schnittstelle an ein externes Lagerverwaltungssystem angeschlossen werden. Andererseits kann die Organisation direkt über die Maschinensteuerung per Touch-Screen erfolgen. Für ein einfaches Ein- und Auslagern benötigen Anwender dann lediglich eine simple Artikelliste. Dem jeweiligen Artikel muss daraufhin nur noch ein fester Lagerplatz zugewiesen werden. Selbst bereits bestehende Listen können mithilfe eines PCs oder Netzwerkkabels in eine gemeinsame Datenbank eingepflegt werden, auf die bis zu drei Karusselllager eines Geräteverbunds zugreifen können. Ist die Bestellung abgeschlossen, übernimmt ein autonomer Roboter (Automated Guided Vehicle – AGV) den Transport des Kommissionierwagens zum gewünschten Bereich. Dank ihm wird der lästige und anstrengende Transport leerer oder voll bestückter Wagen für Mitarbeiter schon bald zur Vergangenheit gehören. Mithilfe eines Greifarms manövriert der Roboter Kommissionierwagen effizient und sicher an die angegebene Stelle. Das Besondere: Weder ein Umbau bestehender Einrichtungen noch spezielle Programmierkünste sind in der Regel hierfür notwendig. Die Bedienung und Programmierung kann spielend einfach über Tablet oder Smartphone erfolgen. Die Vorteile dieses Prinzips: Zeit- und kraftraubende Laufwege entfallen, wodurch die Kommissionierleistung steigt, Arbeitspotenziale frei werden und die Ergonomie für die Mitarbeiter deutlich verbessert wird. Zudem punktet „Dynamic Material Handling“ durch seine Flexibilität. Ein vollständiger Umbau bestehender Systeme ist nicht erforderlich, da es Schritt für Schritt nachrüstbar ist. Erhöht sich das Bestellvolumen im Laufe der Zeit, kann das System sogar noch während des laufenden Geschäftsbetriebs um weitere Module erweitert werden. Insgesamt umfasst das Portfolio aktuell drei verschiedene Kommissionierlager, maßgeschneidert auf unterschiedliche Artikelgrößen und räumliche Gegebenheiten. Für großflächige, niedrigere Räume steht das horizontale Karusselllager Twister H parat, für hohe Hallen eignet sich das vertikale Liftsystem Ascenso. Live auf der LogiMAT ist das vertikale Karusselllager Twister V-350 zu sehen. Es basiert auf einem modularen, standardisierten Baukastensystem. Dadurch ist es individuell für kundenspezifische Anforderungsprofile und die eingesetzten Ladehilfsmittel, z.B. Kunststoffkästen, konfigurierbar, was eine maximale Kapazitätsauslastung sicherstellt. Im Betrieb wird die angeforderte Lagereinheit nach dem Paternosterprinzip auf beweglichen Trägerböden an die Bedienöffnung gefahren. Durch die hochverdichtete Lagerung perfektioniert der Twister V-350 das Kommissionieren kleinerer bis mittelgroßer Artikel in hohen Lagerräumen.

Kommissionierwagen KT3-X – individuell konfigurieren, effektiver kommissionieren
Kein Lagerraum ist gleich und jede Branche hat ihre eigenen Anforderungen. Wer seine passgenaue Kommissionierwagenlösung sucht, findet sie mit dem KT3-X. Exakt auf spezifische Kundenwünsche zugeschnitten dank individuell konfigurierbaren Außenmaßen in kleinsten Rastereinheiten und einem umfangreichen Zubehörsortiment, perfektioniert er die Kommissionierung als wichtiges Glied der Supply-Chain. Und das gilt für jeden einzelnen Wagen, denn eine individuelle Maßanfertigung ist bereits ab einem Stück erhältlich. Das Basismodell überzeugt mit seinem äußerst stabilen Grundgestell sowie Wanzl Qualitätslenkrollen mit Gummilaufflächen. Griffbügel, Gitteretagen, Staplerschlaufen für Gabelstapler und Hubwagen sowie eine 5. Rolle für eine 360°-Drehung auf der Stelle sind nur eine Auswahl aus den Extraangeboten, um den KT3-X dem jeweiligen Einsatzzweck anzupassen.

Lithium-Ionen-Akkus – mobil elektrifizieren, länger funktionieren
Größeres Einsatzspektrum, mehr Kontrolle, verbesserte Ergonomie – die neuen Lithium-Ionen-Akkus von Wanzl ermöglichen eine ortsungebundene Stromversorgung für Wagen sowie Peripheriegeräte und machen so den Arbeitsplatz mobil. Dafür sorgt auch der ausgewiesene Spritzwasserschutz gemäß IP54 für Akkublock, Anschlussleitung und Ladegerät. Der optionale Wanzl SOC Indicator garantiert zudem eine Echtzeitüberwachung der Kapazität und ist je nach Vorliebe direkt am Akku oder extern montierbar. Des Weiteren wurde mit einer Gewichtsreduzierung von bis zu 25% gegenüber den Vorgängermodellen die Handhabung noch einmal deutlich vereinfacht.

Increased Temperature Range for Industrial Monitors

Distec extend the temperature range of their industrial POS-Line series to -25° to +65°C

Distec – leading German specialist for TFT flat screens and system solutions for industrial and multimedia applications – has extended the operating temperature range of their industrial POS-Line monitors, now from -25°C up to +65°C. In combination with the front-end IP protection of up to IP65, they are ideal for use in harsh industrial and digital signage environments such as process and data visualization in production and logistic buildings, or digital signs in public areas. „The proven product family of 15 to 25 inch monitors combines the newest technology with the latest, most appealing design for a perfect solution, thus serving any user looking for a rugged metal housing, reliability in operation, and a choice of controller and front options for different fields of application,“ explained Daniel Fichter, R&D Project Manager at Distec GmbH. In addition to robust design, the industrial monitors provide an elegant, low weight aluminum housing, simplified installation without any mounting angles, and PCAP multi-touch technology for 10-finger operation.

Flexible through Modularity

The lightweight aluminum housing of the POS-Line provides a robust, high-quality powdered surface. The modular setup allows an optimal front end option according to the application and mounting conditions. In addition to suitable front plates or frames, Distec also supplies a 19-inch rack mount or frames with true-flat glass, providing the perfect solution whether users prefer to integrate the monitors into their machines, furniture or walls, or use them as desktop monitors. The monitors and front options are also available in combination with an anti-glare safety glass or a touch sensor. Depending on the application, the POS-Line series can be equipped with a robust, resistive touch, which even allows glove operations, or with a sensitive 10-finger PCAP multi-touch. With the right touch, the monitor becomes interactive and suitable for use as an industrial HMI device. The high transparency of the touch sensors, in combination with the anti-reflective safety glass, leads to a first-class picture impression while offering a high degree of security.

Powerful TFT Controllers Prolong Life Cycles

Distec develops their own TFT controllers in order to become independent of the often short life cycles of Asian controllers. With the PrismaMEDIA-ECO video board, Distec offers DisplayPort, HDMI or VGA interfaces, in addition to serial interfaces (e.g. RS232), which are broadly used in the industry. For the lower range of performance, Distec delivers the powerful computer platform Raspberry, with various benefits. A modern and energy-saving Atom-Baytrail architecture with 4 CPU cores meets medium requirements. The high-performance range covers the latest Core i5/i7 CPUs. Passive cooling, a wide operating voltage range and two LAN interfaces are essential features of the monitor. On request, Distec installs a Windows operating system ex-factory. All PC solutions have 4GB working memory and offer a fast and large 128GB mSATA hard drive memory space.

Christian Garske übernimmt Bereich Security Consulting der Lufthansa Industry Solutions

Neues Geschäftsfeld bündelt langjährige Security Expertise

Christian Garske, 34, übernimmt ab sofort als Associate Director den Bereich Security Consulting der Lufthansa Industry Solutions. Der Diplom-Wirtschaftsinformatiker begann 2008 als IT-Berater bei der Lufthansa Industry Solutions im Technologiecenter in Oldenburg. 2010 wechselte er in die Business Unit Industry & Automotive nach Norderstedt und spezialisierte sich dort auf die Themen Sicherheitsberatung und Sicherheitslösungen.

Die Position des Associate Director Security Consulting in der Business Unit Technology Consulting wurde neu geschaffen. Christian Garske berichtet direkt an Bernhard Kube, Vice President Technology Consulting der Lufthansa Industry Solutions.
