Machine-Vision Near Infra Red Cameras with new enhanced Image Sensor

(pressebox) München, 22.04.2011 – With the new monochrome MV1-D1312IE-40-CL and MV1-D1312IE-160-CL camera, with Camera Link interface, Photonfocus introduces a new camera series, based on the newly developed 3rd Generation CMOS imager A1312IE from Photonfocus. The MV1-D1312IE cameras provides a high dynamic range of up to 120dB with the well known LinLog technology. The new camera is equipped with an extended feature set, satisfying all your vision application needs whilst offering an outstanding image quality.

The A1312IE image sensor series is designed and fabricated in a 0.35µm CMOS technology optimized for image sensors to achieve an outstanding sensitivity and quantum efficiency. The resolution of the new sensors is 1312 x 1082 pixels, with 8µm x 8µm square pixels and over 60% fill factor with an excellent image quality. The new A1312IE CMOS sensor has an extended spectral range covering 350nm to over 1100nm. Besides the overall excellent image quality it is worth pointing out the remarkably high Near Infra Red (NIR) responsivity with a Quantum efficiency of about 10% at 1000nm.

The new camera delivers up to 108fps @ full resolution. A major benefit of the new camera is the possibility to further increase the speed to thousands of frames per second by reducing the ROI – Region of Interest – through horizontal and vertical windowing.

An extended set of features including Multiple Regions of Interest (MROI), decimation, the possibility to use 2 different Look-up-tables (LUT) over different regions of the image, advanced trigger and strobe functions make this camera the ideal tool for your vision application.

Customers requiring sharp and smear free images even with high frame rates will be pleased with the fast global shutter of the new camera.

The new MV1-D1312IE CMOS cameraa are able to start capturing a new image whilst outputting the current image, thus maximising the available exposure time and/or frame rate.

Not using a cover glass on the new A1312IE image sensor, and with it in the new MV1-D1312IE CMOS camera, makes it possible to reduce the number of elements in the optical path. This leads to a maximisation of the sensitivity, whilst avoiding internal reflections and associated image artefacts.
